Dear friend,

As we're still reeling from last week's horrifying attack on the U.S. Capitol, it is clear that our work in 2021 will be to rebuild from the destructive forces of white supremacy, fascism, and dangerous campaigns of lies and disinformation.

The coming weeks will bring the start of the Biden-Harris administration, two more pro-choice allies in the U.S. Senate (thank you, Georgians and Black organizers!) -- and the beginning of legislative sessions in statehouses across the country.

With so much at stake, and a Supreme Court solidified in its opposition to abortion care, we can't take our eyes off the work ahead of us at the state level. We must pass proactive policies that protect and expand access to reproductive health care, including abortion.

Just before the end of 2020, Massachusetts passed legislation to secure reproductive freedom in state law (by overriding the governor's veto -- these champions are fierce!). We were thrilled to partner with NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts to bring the ROE Act over the finish line. Earlier in 2020, we worked with advocates in Virginia to pass the Reproductive Health Protection Act, which removes barriers to expand access to abortion care.

We've already set the stage for continued victories in 2021: in New Jersey, we're working with partners in the Thrive NJ coalition to advance the Reproductive Freedom Act, which will secure reproductive freedom in state law, remove barriers to abortion care, and create more equitable access to reproductive health care.

As legislative sessions begin in 2021, we're poised to hit the ground running to push forward proactive legislation at the state and local levels to protect and expand reproductive health, rights, and justice. Thank you for being a part of our team.
