Scott Pedowitz Promotion to Government Affairs Director

The Chamber is pleased to announce that Scott Pedowitz has been promoted from Government Affairs Manager to Government Affairs Director. Scott has been with the Chamber since September 2018, providing impactful support to the Arlington business community by advocating on behalf of our members and their interests. Scott continues to be available to assist our members with their policy questions and challenges, and can be reached at [email protected].

The Chamber encouraged the Safety and Health Codes Board to not enact the Revised Proposed Permanent Standard for Infectious Disease Prevention of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus That Causes COVID-19 as there remain many concerns that this standard will not minimize disruption and cost in meeting the regulation's health and safety goals.

Additionally, the Chamber showed support of the Arlington Public Schools plan to hire a Partnership Coordinator for Fiscal Year 2022. The Chamber believes that this individual will be well-positioned to identify work-based learning opportunities and would provide leadership in developing comprehensive career pathways for students. The educational return on investing in this position will be significant.

Dominion Energy has partnered with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation to temporarily expand it's EnergyShare program that assists small businesses effected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Small businesses, nonprofits, and houses of worship that are eligible would potentially qualify for one-time assistance of their Dominion Energy electric bill of up to $1,000.

Key eligibility criteria include:

  • Must be a for-profit business owned and independently operated, nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status, or house of worship that employed 50 or fewer people as of January 1, 2021

Any questions and applications can directly go to: [email protected]
