John,
Last week, I introduced legislation to direct the federal government to end lead poisoning in American homes. This issue is very personal to me, and I have made combating lead poisoning in Maine a huge priority in my career in public service. My hometown of Lewiston has the highest concentration of lead poisoning in our entire state, so I know firsthand how serious this problem is.
The bottom line is this: Our kids are suffering and it’s past time to take action. Over the past five years, more than 2,600 Maine kids have been diagnosed or likely diagnosed with lead poisoning.
Will you add your name to our petition urging local, state, and federal officials to come together to solve Maine’s lead problem and protect our kids? >>
This weekend, I hosted a roundtable discussion with local officials and public health experts to discuss my legislation and ways we can work together to solve this crisis. After talking to many people in our community about this issue, it’s clear we must change the way we deal with this problem.
It’s going to take all of us working together to get this done. Sign our petition today to make your voice heard on this critical issue that touches so many families here in Maine. >>
Thanks for taking a stand with me.
Respectfully,
Jared
