"We came close to half the House nearly dying on Wednesday," Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said about the insurrection at the Capitol.1
But Democratic leaders are considering delaying Trump's impeachment proceedings, for days or even months. We cannot let that happen.

Here's the latest: More than 200 members of Congress have signed on to articles of impeachment.2 Elizabeth Warren and many other Senators are ready to hold a trial and get Trump out of the White House right now.3
Even some Senate Republicans, including Lisa Murkowski and Pat Toomey, want Trump to leave office immediately.4
But House Democratic leaders are hesitating. On Sunday they said they're going to wait another 48 hours for Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment, even though Pence has already made it clear he won't do that.5
Democratic leaders also floated a plan where they would vote to impeach Trump this week, but wait for 100 days to actually hold a trial, out of fear it might somehow undermine Biden's agenda.6
That is a false choice, and the Senate can act quickly if the House does too. Trump has shown no remorse for what happened last week. Instead he is going to visit the border in Texas this week, a trip that is certain to inflame tensions even further.7 His finger remains on the nuclear button. He still has vast powers, even with just a week and a half left in his presidency.
Trump cannot be trusted to facilitate a peaceful transfer of power. Even before last week's insurrection, Trump had committed an impeachable offense when he called Georgia's Secretary of State demanding he change the vote count in Trump's favor. We need to tell Congress to act now.
