John,
Lee wanted to share a message with you in light of this week's violence inside our nation's Capitol.
"Every week that Congress is in session, I travel to Washington for votes and then come back home to my district, constituents and family. Over the last 6 years that I've had the privilege of representing New York's First Congressional District in Congress, this has become my routine, but this time was far from normal. This week, while I was in the House chamber, I witnessed the best of America collide with the worst of it in a moment that I will never forget. I totally condemn in the strongest possible terms the destruction, vandalism and loss of life that occurred inside of this glorious, historic Capitol.
There's a lot that we can disagree on, and healthy debate about the issues before us and the future we see for our country is the very foundation of America. That is one of the many reasons why we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
Following Congress' certification of the Electoral College results, Joe Biden will be sworn in as President and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as Vice-President on January 20th.
I love our country and want to see our nation stronger, safer, freer, and more prosperous than ever before. That will require will, room for disagreement, and a pursuit of common ground however possible.”
