Friends -
It's been more than ten years since a gunman tried to assassinate Gabby during a meeting with her constituents. While she survived, six did not, and 13 others were shot.
For Gabby, the road to recovery has been difficult, but she gets stronger and tackles new challenges every day.
After Gabby resigned from Congress, she focused on regaining her strength and rebuilding her life.
But then a gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. That moment spurred Gabby to reenter public service and found this organization. Since that tragedy, we've dedicated ourselves to making sure that no other family would have to experience losing a loved one to gun violence.
We were all disappointed -- furious, even -- when a minority of Senators blocked a bill to close loopholes in our background check system and made it harder for criminals to get guns.
But we also have won some great victories. Together, we've played a role in helping to pass more than 400 laws that will make communities in 45 states safer from gun violence.
But now, thanks to the foundation we've built and a new administration being sworn in next week, we have an opportunity to change our gun laws nationally.
But the gun lobby won't give up without a fight. You know that. But they are no match for us if we stand together. Not now. Not in the future. That's why we are asking:
Can you make a $3 contribution as part of our 72-Hour Fundraising Drive that comes to a close TOMORROW at midnight? This is so important. There is so much at stake.
Thank you for all of your support, from both of us.
