John, even while America is in crisis as we try to remove a lawless, dangerous, President from office before he attempts to lead a second coup attempt, it’s important we don’t lose sight of what else happened this week.

We flipped both Georgia Senate seats, with the progressive of the two candidates getting the most votes and the duel victory putting Democrats in charge of the U.S. Senate.

That’s a big deal. Obviously. But it didn’t happen because we hoped for it. It happened because we worked for it. And that work didn’t start just for the Runoff elections, like it did for so many other organizations. DFA’s work in Georgia started over ten years ago with local endorsements and investment in local DFA groups and allies on the ground.

In 2017, our work went into overdrive. On May 23rd, 2017, over a week BEFORE Stacey Abrams officially announced she was running for Governor of Georgia, DFA recruited volunteers to hit the ground running on day one of her announcement -- and that’s exactly what we did.

DFA was the first national organization to endorse Stacey and we’ve never looked back. We went on to organize hundreds of hours of volunteer actions, from face to face door knocking to thousands of phone calls to voters, and raise over $260 thousands dollars ($260,216.81 to be exact) to help fund her groundbreaking campaign.

When Republican voter suppression successfully cost Stacey the victory, we didn’t give up. We never stopped organizing. We immediately worked with Stacey and our partners on the ground to keep building, keep registering, keep engaging the critical New American Majority of Black, brown and white progressives needed to win in 2020 and beyond.

On January 30th, 2020, Rev. Raphael Warnock announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate. Less than two weeks later, once again DFA was a first mover, endorsing and working directly with the campaign to win.

DFA members made over 1.6 million voter contacts during the general election in Georgia, working to help infrequent voters and the newly registered vote by mail, early, and in-person for both Democratic Senate candidates and helping to put Joe Biden and Kamala Harris over the top to win the state.

Before all the votes had even been counted though, DFA was back on the ground in Georgia working with our local partners registering more Georgians and engaging our voters to return to vote in the Runoff we knew was inevitable.

With no time to spare, we made an extraordinary commitment to double our GOTV impact and make 3 million more voter contacts and, proving our strategy works, a whopping 58% of voters we contacted VOTED BEFORE Election Day. I can’t wait to see what the final percentage was after we review who turned out on the last day to vote.

On Tuesday, we won... again... and each and every one of us should celebrate this incredible victory and be proud of our involvement in making victory happen.

But let’s also be clear: We aren’t done yet.

Now it’s time to finish the job and elect Stacey Abrams Governor and reelect Rev. Warnock in 2022. We’re not waiting for Stacey to officially announce, because effective organizing doesn’t start and end with candidates deciding to run. Successful organizing happens year around. It engages voters not just when we need their vote, but also after we win bringing our voters into the process to help shape policy and empower leadership from the bottom up.

That’s where you come in, again. Right now, despite everything else happening, we can’t lose sight of the fight ahead and what it takes to bring about the change America needs. So I’m asking you to invest in America’s future now.

Please become a monthly contributor to DFA and fuel the work that wins. You can choose the amount and the number of months and of course, you can cancel at any time.

Make no mistake, a monthly investment in DFA’s work will make a difference, not just in Georgia but nationwide. Not just in electing Stacey Abrams Governor, but also supporting the Squad and other progressive leaders in the House like Katie Porter, Pramila Jayapal and Ro Khanna, and in the Senate like Bernie, Warren, Merkely, and now... Warnock.

That said, I understand that not everyone can give even $10 a month. The pandemic has hit everyone hard. So if you can’t commit to monthly support, please instead invest just once, right now, with whatever you can. Whether you choose $5 or $500, every dollar helps DFA members have an impact and elect transformational leaders that change the world.

We’ve done incredible things by working together.

We’ve elected over 1,087 progressive leaders nationwide. We’ve raised over $70 million dollars, made over 33 million voter contacts, and trained hundreds of thousands of volunteers since our founding in 2004.

But that’s what we’ve already done. There’s so much work left to do. Keep making it happen. Fund our movement today.

Stay healthy, stay safe, and never stop fighting for progressive change.
