Dear John,

As we ring in the new year with both renewed hope and grit, we are committed to grounding ourselves in our community's collective power.

Throughout the fall, we've been gearing up for the 2021 General Assembly session, which starts on Wednesday, January 13, to fight for new legislation that will address the disparities that the LGBTQ community continues to face.

With your help, we can build on our victories and enact policies that will advance equality in LGBTQ Virginians' daily lives. Join us!

2021 General Assembly Kickoff

Join the action to keep making history! We have another incredible chance this year to advance LGBTQ protections at the 2021 General Assembly (GA) session, happening entirely virtually. As we saw last year, when we educate our neighbors, mobilize our community, and build our power, we win!

You won’t want to miss the 2021 General Assembly Kickoff this Monday, January 11 from 8:00-9:30am.

We’ll be joined by legislators supporting pro-equality legislation and community advocates who have been on the front lines fighting for change. You’ll connect with fellow LGBTQ and allied Virginians who care about equality, learn about the bills EV is organizing around this year, and find out how to be an advocate for change during this all-digital GA session.

Bagels & Bills series

Start your day off right by joining EV every Monday morning from January 18 through February 22 for our scrumptious Bagels & Bills series. You will find out how to support legislation impacting LGBTQ Virginians, learn how to connect with legislators virtually, and stay up to date on the fight for LGBTQ equality at the Capitol.

We will be joined by community advocates and experts as we discuss pro-equality bills in 2021 and the best ways to support them. After each event, we will randomly select one lucky winner to receive a Panera gift card, so make sure you register today for your chance to win!

Transgender Student Policies

Stand with transgender and non-binary youth! You can make a difference by leaving a public comment with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) in support of their draft guidance outlining best practices for creating inclusive school environments for trans students.

Already, our opposition has submitted a flood of transphobic messages, and we want to ensure that there as just as many supportive comments that are shared.

The public comment period runs until February 3rd, so spread the word and make a comment today.

Community Organizer Position

Join our team! We know that the way to create real change is by building up robust, long-term community power that comes from organizing. EV is looking for someone to develop and lead our community organizing efforts, build and maintain coalitions, and mobilize LGBTQ Virginians for a more equitable future. Read the full job description and apply today!
