Sacramento DSA Condemns Massive Right-Wing

Mobilization and Coup Attempt

Yesterday, thousands of white supremacists, anti-Semites, and xenophobes swarmed D.C, mobilizing in support of Donald Trump and encouraged by his refusal to hand over the presidency and yield to democracy. Sac DSA is sickened but not surprised by this crisis and the failure of our federal leaders to uphold justice.

While President-Elect Joe Biden grasped the opportunity to reinforce the idea of American exceptionalism, the birth of our nation reveals what we already know: the law will only be enforced against those who threaten the ruling class, and will only protect conservative values emboldened by white supremacy under capitalism. And they’re afraid. They’re afraid because our movement is growing and getting stronger.  

Sacramento’s power lies with its people. We have a responsibility to reject the discordant, racist, and violent ideology of white supremacy and the alt-right. We will not tolerate white supremacist activity in our City. Racist, anti-Semetic, xenophobic actions will not be tolerated in Sacramento.

Jan 16: General Membership Meeting

At the meeting, we will be voting on the following resolution in support of the ongoing farmers' strike in India.

This is the largest strike in history, and one which the local Sikh community here in Sacramento recently supported with a massive rally at the Capitol:

Jan 9: New Member Orientation

New members will be able to discuss with and meet other new members, learn why they became socialists and joined DSA, and how to get involved.

California Region DSA Survey

California Region DSA Survey DSA chapters across California have started talking about setting up an official regional organization. But we'd like to see what our membership across all of our chapters want to see from a regional organization, what its goals should be, and how it should be structured.

For that reason, we're gathering as much input from DSA members across the state as possible, and we want to hear from you. This survey was written in collaboration between members of the CA DSA Exploratory Committee from North Bay DSA and DSA SF, and we invite all of our members to fill it out:

DSA Supports New Google Workers Union

The Silicon Valley chapter of DSA has been supporting the year-long effort by workers at Alphabet (the parent company of Google) to form a union. The union includes both tech and non-tech workers, as well as contract and temporary employees. This week, that organizing effort became public. Petition: Hold Newsom Accountable for his Promises on Single-Payer

Sacramento DSA recently signed on to a petition asking Governor Newsom to request a waiver from the federal government allowing California to develop its own statewide single-payer healthcare program -- essentially a California version of Medicare For All. Newsom claimed during his election that he supports single-payer healthcare -- now is his chance to actually prove it. To see the petition and sign it yourself, check out the following link:
