On Wednesday, Donald Trump was responsible for an armed insurrection against the United States of America.

He knew exactly what he was doing when he stood in front of the White House that morning and told supporters to help him overturn the results of our democratic election. He knew exactly what he was doing when he told supporters to go down to the Capitol and "cheer on our brave senators and congressmen." And that "our country has been under siege."

The Constitution provides a very simple tool to remove a president who is no longer fit for the duties of the office. It's called the 25th Amendment, and it needs to be employed immediately. Every second that Trump remains in office he becomes a clearer and more present danger to the stability of our nation.

Democrats and Republicans alike have signed on to the effort. As Sen. Chuck Schumer said Thursday, "This president should not hold office one day longer."

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger agrees: "The President must now relinquish control of the executive branch voluntarily or involuntarily."

Listen, it's up to us to give the vice president and the Cabinet the courage to do the right thing, as soon as possible. They must declare the president unfit for office and get him out of there before it's too late. We have no idea what he is capable of. We need every ounce of support we can get -- but so many of our supporters are tapped out after putting everything on the line in Georgia earlier this week. We need you, and we need you right now.
