On Wednesday, I was in my office in the Longworth House Office Building preparing to debate a challenge to Pennsylvania’s electoral college votes.

I had CSPAN on as I prepared to protect the decision of PA voters. (To certify an election, we go state by state in alphabetical order.) When armed insurrectionists breached the Capitol at the urging of Donald Trump, my colleagues were debating certification of Arizona’s results.

I began receiving texts, notifications, calls, and emails about the mob attacking the Capitol.

This was the first, and God willing, the last time in my life that I was in a lockdown. As I heard chanting and explosions outside, I locked the door and barricaded it with office furniture. A teacher friend who, regrettably, was familiar with school lockdowns texted me advice, and friends and family from all phases of my life reached out to check on me -- it was surreal. As I told the DelCo Times, people have fight or flight instincts, and I was prepared to fight.

My colleagues and I are safe, now, but we cannot back down.

Donald Trump incited a mob to disrupt Congress while we were counting the electoral college votes, a constitutional function. He must be held accountable.

I have called on Vice President Mike Pence and the cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment, and declare Donald Trump unfit for office. If the Vice President fails to act, I have co-sponsored a resolution for Congress to impeach the president for the high crime and misdemeanor of inciting insurrection.

The following days will be challenging -- and I hope I have your support as I work to impeach Donald Trump -- again.
