Congress certifies Electoral College

Congress convened a joint session on January 6 to count electoral votes by state. Around 2 p.m. ET, both chambers recessed after pro-Trump protesters breached the Capitol and the building went into lockdown. Congress reconvened after 8 p.m. and certified the result of the presidential election.

Minimum wage increased over last year’s amount in 25 states, Washington, D.C.

This year, 25 states and Washington, D.C., have seen or will see an increase in the minimum wage. The increases range from a rise of $0.08 per hour in Minnesota to $2.25 per hour in Virginia.
