Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made it clear: If Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet won’t step up to remove the most dangerous man in the United States from office, Congress is prepared to do it through impeachment.
The day after the violent seditionists stormed the Capitol, Pelosi asked of Trump’s Cabinet, “Are they ready to say for the next 13 days this dangerous man can assault our democracy?”
Look, the past four years have brought countless reasons that Trump is unfit to lead our country. If multiple independent investigations of the man have proven nothing else, it’s that Donald Trump will do absolutely anything to save his own skin. And as he proved on Wednesday, that means inciting an armed insurrection against our democracy itself.
We won’t stand for it -- the immediate risk is simply too great. We’re glad Pelosi and other lawmakers agree, but we need to get a critical mass on board immediately.
