“We will not back down”

John — that is the bold and chilling message a domestic terrorist left on Speaker Pelosi’s desk during Wednesday’s treacherous attack on the Capitol.

The violent outpouring of thousands of Trump terrorists at the Capitol on the same day the election results were being certified by Congress was no coincidence.

It was a calculated and deliberate act of treason — stoked by months of the President working to undermine our voice, our votes, and our democracy. We will not stand for it.

Trump has enabled and incited these acts of violence, and others, since before he even stepped foot into the White House. He has violated his sacred Oath of Office and, therefore, is not fit to serve. He must be held accountable — he must be impeached.

Wednesday’s terrorist attacks were shocking, but not surprising. Trump has made it clear which side of history he stands on.

He is determined to ride the coattails of white supremacy, systemic racism, privilege, bigotry, division, and hatred to preserve his “power” even if it means abetting a coup and becoming a traitor to our country.

His and his supporter’s message, “we will not back down,” may have been a battle cry to incite fear and dominance — but our determination to protect democracy is even stronger and louder.
