After this week's violent, failed coup attempt -- an attack on our Republic that has now claimed five lives -- Congress must do its sworn duty and ensure Donald Trump is never able to assume public office again.
It is clear we can't rely on Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to do their jobs and invoke the 25th Amendment. That's why I will be an original co-sponsor of articles of impeachment, and I will vote to expel Trump from office immediately, like I did in 2019.
Make no mistake, if Congress allows Trump's crimes against our democracy to go unanswered, it will create a dangerous precedent for years to come. We cannot miss the moment. I'm in favor of coming back into session to get Trump out.
