Getting veterans the care they need and deserve in a timely, compassionate, and individualized manner saves lives because suicide should not seem like the only option. That is exactly what we do at Boot Campaign.
Boot Campaign’s Health and Wellness Program provides care to treat diverse health challenges connected to Posttraumatic Stress and/or Traumatic Brain Injury, as well as addresses trauma-based insomnia, chronic pain, substance abuse, nutrition and fitness through a combination of long-term case management and customized treatment.
While Boot Campaign has received more than a 125% increase in applications for our Health and Wellness Program year over year, we received more than a 300% increase in applications in 2020 and in light of the challenges of COVID-19. Nobody could have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic, but a pre-pandemic shift in our program to launch a virtual effort for easier access to holistic wellness became invaluable last year when non-traditional and accessible services became more important than ever.
A Marine Corps veteran and active duty law enforcement officer shared, “I just finished the Boot Campaign Health & Wellness Program and it was a great experience. I cannot thank you guys enough. The techniques and resources that were provided have made a big difference in how I am able to handle stressors both at work and at home."
While we are celebrating the tremendous success of our Health and Wellness program in 2020, we know our work must advance with the same thoughtfulness and even more determination. We will continue to provide individualized, comprehensive and complete care. We will continue to expand and hone our virtual offerings for those veterans who need care but are unable to travel or step away from their families for extended periods of time. And we will most certainly need your help to continue to make cost-free and much needed treatment available to those who laced up their boots and walked boldly into hostility to protect and defend our freedoms. They are more than deserving because we want veterans to know one thing: YOU MATTER.
