ADL Statement on Violence at U.S. Capitol Building
As ADL has said again and again, extremists must be taken at their word. First there was volatile rhetoric online, then explicit calls to violence and now people acting on those calls in the nation’s capital and flagrantly breaking the law. It must end now.
ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt issued the following statement regarding Wednesday's violence at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The invasion of the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump extremists was predictable, as capitols have been a frequent target of extremists throughout 2020. Since Wednesday, ADL's Center on Extremism has uncovered a range of posts from right-wing extremists reacting to the event and spreading conspiracies and memes. These have appeared on platforms favored by extremists, including MeWe, Parler, militia forums, Twitter and, most overwhelmingly, on Telegram.

Racist, Extremist, Antisemitic Conspiracies Surround Coronavirus Vaccine Rollout
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, extremists across the ideological spectrum have used the virus as a platform for elaborate and alarming conspiracy theories. Purveyors of these theories suggest that the vaccine is a new form of population control or elevate debunked fears about the vaccine’s side effects. Some are peddling antisemitic tropes about Jewish control of the virus and vaccine, while arguing that Black Americans should be used to test the vaccine’s safety.

Tech Companies Still Supporting Hate
Since the violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, some technology companies have taken additional steps to crack down on the dissemination of hate and violent conspiracy theories. This includes indefinite bans of many of Donald Trump’s social media accounts and Shopify ceasing its sale of merchandise from the Trump Organization.
However, many tech companies continue to play a significant role in spreading the hate and conspiracies that were on full display in the shocking violence at the U.S. Capitol.

Officer's Not Charged in Jacob Blake's Shooting; ADL Statement on Fatal Police Shooting of Andre Hill
On Tuesday, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted the following statement after the officers involved in Jacob Blake's shooting were not charged.
"Without accountability, there is no justice and without justice, there is no change. Not filing charges against the officer who shot Jacob Blake is deeply upsetting, and a roadblock to bringing an end to the systemic racism that infects so many pillars of our society."
In addition, ADL issued the following statement regarding the fatal police shooting of Andre Hill in Columbus, Ohio.
