Wednesday was one of the darkest days in American history.
Domestic terrorists charged the U.S. Capitol, stole and destroyed government property, broke into offices, and put every single person in the building in danger as an attempt to stop the certification of the fair presidential election.
This was called on by Donald Trump at the rally near the White House. He told his supporters to go to the Capitol and act in support of his false and dangerous claim of a stolen election. There is no question: Trump incited this violence and this attack on our nation's capitol building.
My staff and I are safe, but like many, we are shaken — but what we do now will define us for decades to come. We cannot let Trump's fear and hate win. We must take action in defense of our democracy.

Two months ago, we won the majority of the House. Three days ago, we won the majority of the Senate back. In 12 days, we will swear in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We have the power to make meaningful change for the first time in years. This is when we need to join together.
We refuse to stand down to Donald Trump and his violent following.
Stay safe and stay well,
