Hey John,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! If one of your new year’s resolutions is to read more in 2021, or to learn more about the environment, you’re in luck: OLCV’s Environmental Book Club is back for 2021!
Whether or not you’ve attended our past meetings, I invite you to join us for our next book—Eager: The Surprising, Secret Life of Beavers and Why They Matter by Ben Goldfarb. In this creative non-fiction book, Goldfarb explores the profound impact that beavers have on our world, from wetland creation, to salmon health, to drought prevention, to fighting climate change. Eager looks back at how the decline of beavers has changed landscapes worldwide, and how activists—called ‘Beaver Believers’—are working to restore this influential species to its former glory.
I for one don’t know much about Oregon’s state animal, and am looking forward to learning more! We’ll be meeting over Zoom to discuss it on Monday, March 22nd, at 5pm. Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link and email updates!
