Dear John,

Happy new year! 2020 was a long, challenging year for many, which is why I am so proud of the Polaris community. You came together at a time when it mattered more than ever, to support survivors of human trafficking and to prevent more people from facing abuse and exploitation.

This past November and December, Polaris challenged our community to help us raise necessary funds during our Transform Matching Gift Challenge. Our donors stepped up to the plate and then some by not only helping us reach our goal, but by exceeding it!

The outpouring of support means we are going into this new year strong, ready to take on the work ahead.

That means continuing our commitment to assisting victims and survivors through the Polaris-operated U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline. But, as the events of 2020 made so abundently clear, human trafficking does not happen in a vacuum. That's why in 2021 we are deepening our work, transforming the inequities and injustices in our society and communities that make trafficking possible in the first place.

This is the work of a social justice movement that will fundamentally reduce the amount of trafficking - not just respond to it. A movement takes more than one organization. It takes all of us working together to ensure that everyone has the chance to make their own choices about how they live and work, in freedom and with dignity.

I'm so grateful for your support in 2020 and I'm excited to build on it in 2021. Together, freedom happens now.
