And as a way to encourage you today, we want to share a story from Al Goff, Unto® President and CEO, that reminds each of us how Jesus delights in us when we work together with Him.

"When my son was two years old he wanted to help me do the dishes. How many of you have had small children try to help you? The truth is they’re just really not that helpful. Yet when we worked together, the dishes got washed. Although I did most of the work, eventually the task was finished. Afterward I praised my son for a job well done.

In John 15:5 Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” Similar to my young son, who could not wash the dishes on his own, apart from Jesus we can do nothing. The work we do for God is a lot like a toddler cleaning dishes. Our work is not all that productive unless it is done with Jesus’ help. If Jesus does not show up, it is worthless. When He shows up, extraordinary things happen.

Matthew 25:23 says that one day Jesus will tell those who faithfully served Him, “Well done, good and faithful servant . . . Enter into the joy of your master.” How could Jesus tell us “well done” when He does the work through us? When I told my son how much of a helper he was, I did not lie to him. I was thrilled that he was helping me and loved the process of doing it with him. It was the companionship of working together that was key.

Jesus loves His children to come alongside Him to fulfill the Great Commission and Great Commandment together. He will tell us “well done” because He delights in the joy of working together. There is no greater joy in this life than doing God’s work together and seeing Him bless our efforts."
