Fellow American,
This past September 17, Constitution Day, I chaired a panel organized by the
White House. The panel’s purpose was to identify what has gone wrong in the
teaching of American history and to lay forth a plan for recovering the truth.
Setting the record straight about American history has been central to
Hillsdale College’s mission since 1844.
One of my fellow panelists was the great historian Wilfred McClay, who teaches
one of Hillsdale’s best and most popular online courses: “The Great American
Story: A Land of Hope.” This course presents a full and honest account of
America as a land of hope, founded on high principles. And like all of
Hillsdale’s online courses, it is offered free of charge.
I invite you to enroll in a special study session covering this course. You
will receive a syllabus that organizes the course into twelve lessons over six
weeks, as well as regular communications to foster discussion on the key themes
of the course.
This free special study session begins on Tuesday, January 12. To enroll,
