** Impeach?
------------------------------------------------------------

A growing number of lawmakers, including top Democrats in Congress, are calling for the president's impeachment after a violent mob of pro-Trump supporters ([link removed]) stormed the Capitol on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted photos of the Articles of Impeachment and said: “We need to move quickly to remove this President from office.”

** 25th Amendment?
------------------------------------------------------------

Another option: lawmakers are calling for Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) each called for the use of the 25th Amendment in response to what Pelosi called “an act of sedition” by inciting the riot at the Capitol.

The call for invoking the 25th Amendment has already gained some bipartisan support, including from Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).

** Orderly Transition?
------------------------------------------------------------

In his return to Twitter, President Trump committed to an "orderly" transition of power a day after his supporters stormed the Capitol.

"I would like to begin by addressing the heinous attack on the United States Capitol," Trump opened the video message. "Like all Americans, I am outraged by the violence, lawlessness, and mayhem. I immediately deployed the National Guard and Federal law enforcement to secure the building and expel the intruders. America is, and must always be a nation of law and order."

"The demonstrators who infiltrated the Capitol have defiled the seat of American democracy. To those who engage in the acts of violence and destruction, you do not represent our country and to those who broke the law, you will pay."
