NAFCU,
working with DCUC, continues NDAA push on the Hill
NAFCU President
and CEO Dan Berger, along with Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) President and
CEO Anthony Hernandez, and members of NAFCU's Legislative Affairs team were
on Capitol Hill yesterday to continue discussions with lawmakers to ensure that
an industry-opposed provision is not included in the final version of the FY2020
National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Last year, NAFCU's efforts led
House and Senate conferees of the FY2019 NDAA to drop the provision regarding bank leases on military installations.
Berger:
Regulators, Congress must coordinate on fintech
NAFCU President and
CEO Dan Berger urged key members of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination
Council (FFIEC) to consider enacting regulation to achieve a level playing field
between fintech companies and traditional financial institutions as he shared
the association's new fintech whitepaper.

NAFCU:
Fair access, data security needed in real-time payments
Noting that
"faster payments represent a distinct technology priority" for credit
unions, NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler outlined for the
Senate Banking Committee the association’s support for the Federal Reserve's
efforts to develop a real-time payments system – FedNow Service – and also
reiterated the need for a national data security standard.
DOL
finalizes overtime rule with NAFCU-supported changes
The Department
of Labor (DOL) Tuesday announced its final overtime rule that includes NAFCU-supported
adjustments regarding the rule's salary level exemption and nondiscretionary
bonuses and incentive payments. The rule is set to take effect Jan. 1, 2020.
