Today, the Community Justice Action Fund is calling for Donald Trump to be impeached and removed immediately from the Office of the President of the United States.
Yesterday, our country was terrorized by white supremacists emboldened by our President.
During a global pandemic, and after a year when Washington D.C. saw the highest rates of gun violence [[link removed]] in over a decade, these white supremacists arrived armed on the steps of the Capitol and threatened elected leaders and residents with gun violence.
The people most impacted by yesterday’s acts were the local communities of color whose lives were put at risk by racist violence, and in particular gun violence. Less than 24 hours after a Black man was elected to the United States Senate from a southern state, a noose was hung [[link removed]] outside the building where he will serve. Less than a year after George Floyd was murdered by police, armed white supremacists stormed the Capitol, where some re-enacted his murder [[link removed]] as police watched.
When we take to the streets to protest police violence against Black life, we are met with force by police. When these white supremacists threatened our democracy, they were coddled — and remain at large.
Yesterday’s acts are not isolated, but are the most recent iteration of America’s long legacy of white supremacy — a legacy that has been further emboldened by President Donald Trump.
After four years of increased violence against communities of color, we call for our nation’s leaders to commit to revolutionize our institutions and dismantle the racist systems that enable white supremacy and gun violence.
That revolution starts with removing Donald Trump from office immediately.
Another world is possible and we will keep fighting for it.
