Yesterday, in broad daylight, we witnessed an attempted coup.
The goal of these Trump supporters was to overthrow a democratic election — and they did it at the President’s direct order.
Make no mistake: The President incited an attack on Congress. He is deeply unstable.
That is why Alexandria is urging her fellow members to reconvene immediately and support the impeachment and removal of Donald Trump from office.
The President’s actions have proven that every day that Donald Trump remains in office — in charge of our Army and our nuclear arsenal — our country remains in danger. It is the job of Congress to set a precedent that this behavior from a president is unacceptable, and so we must act now.
That’s why Alexandria called for the 25th amendment to be invoked today, and if it is not then Congress should immediately reconvene for impeachment and removal proceedings.
Our republic is in great danger, and it is imperiled further without swift action to protect it.
