John, yesterday was a sad and horrifying day for our country.

What we witnessed was a dangerous attack on our democracy as Trump’s supporters broke into the halls of Congress and attempted a coup in plain sight.

Let’s be clear: the people who threatened members of Congress are domestic terrorists. And what transpired was white supremacy on full display.

Donald Trump is directly responsible for inciting this violence after pushing baseless conspiracy theories about election fraud for months. He is the single greatest threat to our democracy and his deliberate attempt to overturn the election is more proof he’s unfit for office and should be barred from another term as Commander-in-chief.

That’s why I’m joining my colleagues in demanding Vice President Pence invoke the 25th amendment and remove Trump from office immediately.

I am proud to say that the far-right's attack did not stop us from confirming Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.
