Friend,
Yesterday was a dark day for our democracy — our own president incited a violent mob to terrorize our nation’s Capitol in a desperate attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the presidential election.
In our own state of Washington, pro-Trump supporters, some armed, broke through the gates of the Governor’s mansion.
The events that unfolded yesterday were the result of Trump stirring division, hate, and distrust towards our elections and our democratic processes during the past four years.
When the president called on his supporters to take action, he did so knowing that violence and destruction would likely ensue. Trump has increasingly become a serious threat to our democratic institutions.
Will you join us in condemning the actions of the president and the terrorists who stormed the Capitol yesterday?
The past four years have made clear the importance of strong, local leadership. Our elected officials have the power to stoke division and hate or encourage unity and decency.
The Washington Senate Democrats are committed to protecting American democracy and setting an example of true leadership by standing up to the president and any others who would violate and terrorize our nation’s values.
Please add your name to our petition to condemn yesterday’s unprecedented attack on our democracy: https://go.senatedemocrats.org/a/capitol-attacks
From,
Adam, Katy, Malorie and the whole team at the Washington Senate Democratic Campaign
