John,
Trump’s attack on our democracy cannot be allowed to stand. He sent a white supremacist mob to attack the Capitol, and then called them patriots.
This has to end, and Congress has to do it.
Here’s the thing: Trump is not the only one to blame. Republicans in Congress still attempted to invalidate votes in the dead of night after Trump’s seditious attack. They are guilty of sedition too. They must be held accountable as well.
The sad truth is this: Republicans have been cultivating and emboldening a white supremacist terrorist movement in this country for decades. From the Oklahoma City bombing, to the deadly riots in Charlottesville, to Trump’s blatant effort to stage a fascist coup yesterday, it’s been going on for a while.
AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY CONGRESS MUST START DRAWING LINES.
Yesterday Representative Ilhan Omar began the process of drawing up articles of impeachment. Nancy Pelosi has recessed the House until Monday, but heroes like Representative Dean Phillips have committed to stay in the Capitol to push back on Trump regardless. Pelosi and new Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have called for Trump to go.
But John, this must be about more than messaging. There has to be REAL ACTION.
As developments around this action continue to unfold, we will continue to keep you updated.
Thank you for all you do,
-HAZMAT America
