Weekly Jobless Claims Total 787k vs. 815k Expected
The new year is kicking off with mixed economic news.
Private payrolls in December fell by 123,000 vs. the Dow Jones estimate for a gain of 60,000, marking the first decline since April. This follows seven straight months of job growth.

Facebook Blocks President Trump From Posting for “At Least” the Remainder of His Term
Yesterday, both Facebook and Twitter shut down President Trump’s access to their services. Twitter announced that they would require Trump to delete two messages and then he could use the service again in 12 hours. On the other hand, Facebook announced they would be suspending Trump’s account at least through the end of his term in office.

China Blocks Team of Researchers From Entering the Country to Investigate Coronavirus Origins
China has blocked World Health Organization officials from entering the country to investigate the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, despite an agreement between the WHO and the Communist government to let the scientists in.
