Following the rioting and violence on January 6, 2021 after a mob
breached the United States Capitol, GLAAD is calling on social media
companies to ban Donald Trump permanently. Trump has consistently used
social platforms including Facebook and Twitter to stoke violence and
spread misinformation. The risk of allowing Trump to continue this
behavior using these platforms is too great.

GLAAD's Trump Accountability Project has been tracking the
Trump administration's attacks against the LGBTQ community - 181
and counting in negative policies and dangerous rhetoric over the last
four years, and a number of them happening on social media.

Facebook announced that Trump will be banned from Facebook and
Instagram indefinitely, but we urge them to make this move permanent,
and we urge Twitter to follow suit.
