David Henig is the Director of the UK Trade Policy Project at European Centre for International Political Economy, and a co-founder of the UK Trade Forum. He is one of the UK’s leading trade experts.



Few people are better placed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the new relationship between the UK and Europe. 



The report shows how this free trade agreement can be improved and moved towards the comprehensive agreement we were promised and which the UK so desperately needs.As a matter of urgency, the UK should join regulatory bodies where there is no realistic prospect of divergence, and remove non-tariff barriers to our free trade.

This barebones agreement will prove costly for the UK if it is not fleshed out quickly. Despite the FTA, the UK has cut itself off from opportunities, both social and economic.
