Yesterday we witnessed an attack on our democracy. A mob of armed supporters of Donald Trump engaged in domestic terrorism, attempting to occupy the people’s Congress, risking the lives of the democratically elected representatives of the American people.

It was a dark day for our nation and Donald Trump is to blame, among many others.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election overwhelmingly. But instead of affirming that fact, Senator Ted Cruz of my home state of Texas added fuel to the fire, gleefully spreading Trump’s lies and encouraging a mob intent on overthrowing our democracy.

Put simply: Ted Cruz is an embarrassment to Texas and to our entire nation. He has helped incite violence and undermined the will of the American people for his own pathetic political ambitions. That’s why I am calling for his resignation.
