NY STATE RESIDENTS: HELP STOP PUPPY MILLS!
Urge Your State Assembly Member to Support Bill A.6298!

New York State Bill A.6298 would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from illegal breeders in pet stores and authorize spaces for rescue groups to adopt rescued animals. Click here to help support Bill A.6298! ([link removed])

New York has one of the highest concentrations of pet stores in the United States. Many animals sold in these stores are sourced from “USDA Licensed Breeders”, which are often puppy mills and kitten factories. There is little to no oversight on these breeding facilities, and many are in severe violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

In 2017, California signed A.B. 485, the Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, into law, banning the retail sale of commercially bred dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet shops across the state. If New York Bill A.6298 were enacted, New York would join California in enacting strong legislation to help stop puppy mills. Read more.. ([link removed])

LCA strongly believes one of the most effective ways to stop puppy mills is to enact legislation making the sale of animals bred in these facilities illegal.
