This is a difficult email to write.
White nationalists and neo-Nazis attacked our nation’s Capitol at the behest of the current occupant of the White House.
Let me speak plainly: this was a domestic terrorist attack. Violence and symbols of hate desecrated the very heart of our democracy. During the attack, a confederate flag was flown in the halls of Congress for the very first time — a searing representation of the hatred that has been emboldened by this Administration and threatens the lives of so many Americans every day. The attack was directly incited by Donald Trump, who earlier in the day called on his supporters to march on the Capitol building.
Donald J. Trump should immediately be impeached by the House of Representatives and removed from office by the United States Senate as soon as Congress reconvenes.
We must take action NOW to hold accountable all those who set the stage for this violent coup attempt. Our democracy and American lives depend on it.
