When I was sent to Louisiana's Angola prison for a crime I didn’t commit, it was 1983. Personal computers weren't common, and no one had a cell phone.

Earlier this year, I walked out of prison and into a world entirely different from the one I had left. Thanks to the Innocence Project's Exoneree Fund, I'm enrolled in classes right now in Oakland, where I'm learning how to use a computer and pursuing my passion for music through singing and piano lessons.

I've also been catching up on what I've missed—books, music and more. I am currently reading Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow, which you can find on the Innocence Project reading guide ([link removed]) and sheet music for class. With my iPhone I can listen to all the music that I love.
