Join DISD Teachers and Families to Protest Racist, Anti-Labor Test-and-Punish System
Dallas ISD is the only Texas school district to tie teacher pay to student test scores. This results in narrow teaching to the test, a loss of diverse learning opportunities, and harm to supportive student-teacher relationships. Teachers who serve students in poverty are financially penalized, while staff at more affluent and whiter campuses are more likely to be rewarded. The demands of standardized testing and a regime of micromanagement coupled with salaries that are no longer regionally competitive have all served to create a crisis of attrition in DISD. Dallas students and teachers deserve better than this. We need an evaluation system that values the craft of teaching and a school district that sees students as unique people, not scores.
