Dear John,

Like most people, I’m hoping this year will be better than the one we just lived
through. But if 2020 taught us anything, it’s that life is precious, and all of
us have to work together to protect the world we love.

That’s why I’m so grateful to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, for calling on all
people of the world to take immediate action against climate change. And I’m
excited that he will soon join an amazing young activist for a conversation that
you can view for free online.

His Holiness, Greta Thunberg and leading scientists will take part in “A
Conversation on the Crisis of Climate Feedback Loops,” hosted by the Mind & Life
Institute, on Saturday night, Jan. 9, at 10:30 pm EST.

This is an exciting event for our community of compassion for many reasons. For
one, the conversation will be grounded in a new educational film series titled,
" Climate Emergency: Feedback Loops
[[link removed]] ,” narrated by our ICT Chairman Richard Gere.

For another, His Holiness is a great admirer of Greta Thunberg. In fact, in his
new book, “Our Only Home: A Climate Appeal to the World,” the Dalai Lama says
Greta inspires him. Their conversation will take place across generations and
cultures, but with a shared concern for our future.

Most of all, the discussion between these two leaders and some of the world’s
greatest scientists will teach us how we can work together to slow, stop and
even reverse the impact of devastating climate feedback loops.

John, this past year has been heartbreaking for us all.
And there are many challenges still ahead. In my homeland of Tibet, climate
change is threatening my people’s ancient way of life. And as a recent video from His Holiness
[[link removed]] points out,
glaciers in Tibet are melting faster than anywhere else in the
world.

All of us must take action to save Tibet in order to help save our planet.
Thankfully, we have a visionary leader like the Dalai Lama to guide us, devoted
activists like Greta Thunberg to ally with us and incredible ICT members like
you to make it all possible.

Thank you for your dedication to ICT and my Tibetan brothers and sisters. I know
you will continue to put your compassion into action this year and beyond.

Sincerely,

Tencho Gyatso
Director of Outreach

P.S. The Tibetan Policy and Support Act, supported by ICT and our members,
became law at the end of last year and addresses water security and climate
change in Tibet. With much continued work to be done in 2021,
please consider making a gift to ICT today to sustain our work on behalf of
Tibet’s environment.
