Yesterday, the House and Senate gathered for a tradition as old as our Republic. For over 200 years, we have had a peaceful transfer of power in this country. Until now.

Republicans encouraged an insurrection and Donald Trump encouraged mob violence to overturn a democratic election. It’s sedition, and a coup.

I was on the floor yesterday afternoon fighting for democracy when rioters broke in -- and last night I worked with my colleagues to ensure nothing would stop the Congress from doing our Constitutional duty and declaring that Joe Biden was elected President. Today, I've called for the Vice President and the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Donald Trump from office immediately. If they won't, he must be impeached and removed from office.

Every Republican in the House is to blame for what happened yesterday. For four years, they encouraged a demagogue and refused to remove Donald Trump from office even after clear evidence of his crimes.

So, now that I've confirmed all my colleagues and their staff members are safe, I'm asking for your help to make sure we have the resources to defeat every single Republican who led our country to this day.
