Dear El Dorado County Democrats:
Today, the U.S. Constitution and the very home of our Democracy were attacked by a riotous mob emboldened by the shameful words of Donald Trump and the disgraceful actions by more than a hundred Congressional Republicans. We condemn their reprehensible actions to undermine the will of the American People, endanger the lives of countless public servants and desecrate our U.S. Capitol in the strongest possible terms.
The votes of the American People were fairly casted, counted, recounted, certified and litigated. The U.S. Congress must now be allowed to do its job without further delay - ensuring a peaceful transition of power with the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on January 20, 2021.
The peaceful transition of power often from one party to another is one of the central reasons the United States of America has been upheld as a beacon of freedom, hope and democracy around the world for nearly 250 years. That must continue now and forever. The American People and our Democracy are counting on it.
Stay the course,
Rusty Hicks, Chair, California Democratic Party
Josh Elder, Chair, El Dorado County Democratic Party
