This is a dark day for our democracy, friend. What should have been a routine procedural vote to count states' Electoral College votes descended into chaos.
Michigan knows what this is like all too well. Let me be clear: these aren't protesters. These are insurrectionists incited by the sitting President to storm the U.S. Capitol.
But Trump isn't alone. Some Republicans are going to extreme lengths to protect Trump and hold onto power. I won't keep quiet as they attack our democracy and attempt to silence the voices of millions of Americans. Enough is enough.
Even as we celebrate the hopeful outcome in Georgia and anticipate seating Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in a Democratic-controlled Senate, we cannot let these attacks on our democracy go unanswered.
