There were unbelievable and disgusting scenes out of Washington this afternoon. Let's pray together that this dark chapter in our country's history will come to an end soon.

Something to remember as it pertains to Florida:

The proposed bill was created to target black folks protesting against police shootings. It's striking to me how different the response has been to this mob of Confederate flag wavers and Trump acolytes INSIDE the Capitol compared to the response to marches for civil rights this past summer.

It is past time we close the book on this nightmare and start the hard work of building a stronger America that works for everyone.

Thankfully, we are finally seeing Republicans who are willing to denounce the violence and the extremists. As to those who are still condoning this behavior and calling the election "stolen", let's beat them where it hurts, the ballot box.

And on that point, thanks Georgia! Today wasn't all bad.

Congratulations to Senators Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock for pulling off a historic victory! I'm looking forward to working with the Biden team and our Democratic House AND Senate. From meaningful covid relief to healthcare and criminal justice reform, there is a lot of work to be done. 

The Ossoff and Warnock teams along with the coalitions built by Stacey Abrams and organizers like her have shown what investment of time and resources on the ground can do. We'll have another shot to flip Florida Blue in 2022.

Let's give them a reckoning.
