The results in Georgia represent a historic moment for our country. The people of Georgia have given us a new day and an opportunity to define the agenda in the US Senate instead of languishing under Mitch McConnell's choking grip.

Even at this hopeful moment though Trump and his enablers continue their threats. Later today, Congress will vote to approve the state-certified Electoral College results for President-elect Joe Biden -- the final step in our election process before the official transfer of power on Inauguration Day.

At least 13 Republican Senators led by Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley plan to challenge this certification and support Donald Trump's outrageous, totally unfounded, claims that election fraud prevented his re-election.

I will be taking the Senate floor later today to demand my Republican colleagues end this dangerous obstruction and move to approve the Electoral College results. Will you add your name to stand with me?

Joe Biden will be our next President and Kamala Harris our next Vice-President. But this seditious theater will leave a dangerous precedent.

Our democratic system relies on the peaceful transfer of power. The willingness of some Republican elected officials to join Trump's totally unfounded attack on the outcome of a democratic election is akin to an attempted coup -- and will encourage others to do the same.

Already, state legislators in Pennsylvania have followed the lead of Trump and his Congressional allies by refusing to seat a duly-elected Democratic state senator during their opening session.

This has gone way too far.

Add your name to join me in calling on every Republican Senator to certify the Electoral College results for Joe Biden. A vote against this certification is a vote against our democracy >>

Even as we celebrate the hopeful outcome in Georgia and anticipate seating Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in a Democratic controlled Senate, we cannot let these attacks on our democracy go unanswered.

Thank you for raising your voice today.
