Chuck Schumer

Friend --

Georgia voters turned out in historic numbers to elect Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock, and their victories flipped the Senate.

It’s what we’ve been working toward for so long, and it’s what felt almost impossible this time last year.

But to start 2021, we elected two incredible senators (in Georgia!) who flipped the Senate.

After growing up poor in the Savannah projects, Rev. Raphael Warnock will go to Washington as the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King preached. Now he will be Georgia’s first Black senator.

Jon Ossoff will be the youngest senator since Joe Biden -- and the youngest senator currently serving in the Senate. He is proof you never give up when democracy is on the line, because a loss in 2017 only fueled his passion to flip the balance of power back to everyday Georgians.

Because of these two incredible, unprecedented wins, the future looks so bright. The Senate can get back to work immediately for the American people, and that’s exactly what we’ll do.

This is because folks like you believed we could do the impossible -- and we did it. Thank you. You believed, like I did, that Democrats can win everywhere and anywhere, and that includes Georgia.

Americans have shown they’re ready for bold change, and the new Democratic Senate is ready to deliver that bold change to them -- and as your new Majority Leader, I’m ready to lead us into a brighter future.

This is your win as much as it is anyone else’s. More to come soon, but take a moment to celebrate -- I can’t wait to get to work together.

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
