Today, a joint session of Congress meets to count the Electoral College votes from November’s presidential election.

The results are not in question: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won -- with the help of Georgia’s 16 electoral votes.

But hyper-partisan Republicans in the House and Senate plan to object to the count from Georgia. They have decided that they know better than the people of our state and that their political agenda should outweigh our voters’ choices.

Team, we won’t stand for it. We need to join together and tell these politicians loud and clear that they must do their duty and uphold the results of Georgia’s election. So we started a petition to do just that.

Will you sign your name right now to demand that Republicans listen to the voters and count the votes? We need all the support we can get before Congress meets later today. This political maneuver is a blatant attack on our democratic values. It undermines the very Constitution members of Congress swore to protect and defend.

If it wasn’t clear before, it is now: Far too many Republicans are more concerned with appeasing a demagogue than with defending democracy.

But our representatives weren’t elected to serve Donald Trump. They were elected to serve the people -- and the people of Georgia and the nation voted for Joe Biden. We need to remind them of that.
