John, there is a charade going on in Washington today.
After winning with 306 electoral votes — which is a landslide, according to President Trump — Republicans have pulled out all the stops to prevent Joe Biden from taking office as President.
They have filed over 50 different lawsuits in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, and here in Georgia. Every single one has been tossed out of court.
President Trump then called on state legislatures to step in and cancel out the popular votes in their states and unilaterally grant Trump their electoral votes. This plot failed.
And so now, today, as Congress gathers to count the electoral votes and certify Joe Biden’s win, a group of Republicans plan on stomping their feet and objecting. This means that the entire Congress will have to spend hours voting on their objections.
Outside the halls of Congress, Donald Trump has summoned a rowdy bunch of his supporters and ordered them to “be wild.” Their goal is to pressure public officials, sometimes with threats of violence, to overturn democracy and declare Donald Trump as President for a second term.
I won’t be intimidated, John. No matter how many times Republicans contest the election, I will proudly vote to certify the election in favor of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
We are better than this President. We are better than his sycophants in Congress. And on January 20th, President Joe Biden will begin the process of healing our nation.
In solidarity,
Hank
