Welcome to the Number of the DayJanuary 6, 2021To increase people’s confidence in the results of the next presidential election, 90% of voters nationwide believe it is important to improve the process of voter registration, voting, and the counting of ballots. A PoliticalIQ survey found that 65% believe such election reforms are very important.[1] While there are varying degrees of intensity, majorities of every measured demographic group say it is very important to improve the way that elections are conducted. That view is shared by 81% of Republicans, 58% of independents, and 57% of Democrats.[1] Earlier PoliticalIQ polling in Pennsylvania found strong bipartisan support for a range of significant reforms.[2] Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Pennsylvania voters believe that, prior to the election, government agencies should clean the voter registration files and remove the names of all who have moved or died. Seventy-five percent (75%) approve of requiring all mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day. Majorities also favor requiring photo IDs for all ballots and a ban on ballot harvesting.[2] About the Number of the DayEach weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
