No Child Deserves This
Last week, a 6-year-old black girl and another unidentified 6-year-old child were arrested at their Florida school. The girl was handcuffed and taken to a juvenile detention center. Her fingerprints and mugshot were taken, and she was charged with battery. No child deserves such treatment—and no school should excuse it. Use these resources ([link removed]) to help create and support schools where all children feel safe to learn and grow.

“How do you want to look back at your life? Do you want to be able to say that you did fight against it and tried to push for a change early on? Or do you want to say that, ‘No, I just went on going like everyone else because it was too uncomfortable.’” — Teen Vogue ([link removed])
“While segregation in parts of America has persisted, the number of students affected has inched up only slightly. Out of 46.4 million public school students, about 5.8 million attended schools that were not integrated in 2017.” — The Washington Post ([link removed])
“Watching the video of the match, I saw Maloney give Drew 90 seconds to shatter either a pillar of his identity or his bond with his teammates and his home. Sitting in the barber chair beneath Perez’s buzzing clippers 3½ months later, Drew was still trying to reassemble the pieces of who he used to be.” — The Undefeated ([link removed])
