I applaud Speaker Pelosi's decision to open an impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

When I called for an impeachment inquiry earlier this year, I was one of the first freshmen from a recently flipped district to do so.

The findings of Mueller's report were alarming. The report raised serious questions about the security of our elections and the integrity of the President.

Now, we have learned that the President attempted to pressure a second foreign government -- Ukraine -- to investigate a political opponent and interfere in our elections.

The President has put his own political interests above the will of the American people and his duty to uphold the Constitution.

There is much we still do not know, including the substance of the initial whistleblower complaint. We will work to obtain it. Our democracy, and our constitution are too precious to do otherwise.
