Gov. DeWine is giving Ohioans a license to kill.
John,
Despite our months of opposition, Gov. DeWine just signed Ohio’s dangerous “Stand Your Ground” bill into law.
These laws remove the “duty to retreat” during conflict and are proven to increase gun homicides. Time and time again, they have been used to justify racially-motivated vigilantism, like the murders of Trayvon Martin in Florida and Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. With Gov. DeWine’s signature, at least half of the states in the country have implemented these NRA-backed laws and we cannot allow them to continue to spread through our country. This is serious, John: We are already seeing movements to implement and expand these laws in New Hampshire, Arkansas, and Florida.
Gov. DeWine is acting negligently and recklessly, signing this bill on the heels of Ohio’s most lethal year for gun violence. Ohioans’ lives are at risk, and if we don’t act now, more American lives will hang in the balance. That’s why I’m urgently asking you, John, will you donate $25 or more today to support our continued fight against the spread of NRA-backed “Stand Your Ground” Laws? >>

With your help, we sent over 17,000 messages to Gov. DeWine denouncing this bill. We are outraged that he has blatantly ignored the will of his constituents and Americans everywhere. And now, John, we cannot allow these laws to spread further across the country. Our fight does not stop with Ohio: If we are going to save lives and stop the NRA’s dangerous agenda, we must fight against “Stand Your Ground” laws throughout the rest of the country with everything we have.
Brady is doubling-down on our efforts to stop the proliferation of these NRA-backed policies that disproportionately kill Black and Brown people, but we need your support. That’s why I’m urgently asking you to donate to our fight to end gun violence and stop these dangerous laws from spreading across America. Let’s make Ohio the last state to ever pass a “Stand Your Ground” law.
John, will you give $25 or more now to support our efforts against “Stand Your Ground” laws across the country? Your donation will fund our grassroots advocates who know how to protect their communities and save lives.
